Our dog's senses are far keener than our own and they love to use them. New sights, sounds, and smells are a real treat for dogs and they can burn off a tonne of mental energy investigating new environments and objects.

This also helps them grow in confidence with the world around them as they gather information.

On walks, allow your dog plenty of opportunity and time to sniff. Make sure you go to different places and mix up the route that you take. This will give them new sights, smells and sights to experience.

Top tips: it’s important to remember that there are dangerous items out there for our dogs such as certain toxic plants. Always be careful that you dog doesn’t ingest anything while out on walks or indeed in the home.

If your dog does have a tendency to eat things while outside, then muzzle training is great way of preventing this occurring.
