Over 670 dogs rehomed so far in 2020!
Over 35 dogs have packed their bags and headed off to their Forever Homes last month.
Which means that, thanks to you, we’ve found loving homes for over 670 dogs so far this year! We couldn’t do this without our supporters – thank you for helping so many special dogs find the homes they deserve.
Here are just some of our latest adoptees whose lives have been transformed because of you! I hope they put a smile on your face 😊
Kali sadly had to be surrendered through no fault of her own, so we were looking for a five star home for this playful, funny girl. Luckily, Margaret came along at just the right time. Margaret had previously adopted Kyia and Julia and was the perfect match. After they sadly passed, the house felt too quiet. Now Kali is helping to mend a broken heart and bring some scampish fun back into Margaret’s home: “Kali has settled in so quickly. She's a very funny clever girl. She likes to squeak to get our attention. It’s very funny, a tiny mouse squeak coming out of a huge dog. She likes to grab a shoe or a sock to get a chase from us, she passes by just out of arms reach, tail wagging. You can't give out! She doesn't chew it; she just holds it gently in her mouth. It’s lovely to have a dog in the house again. We miss and love Julia and Kyia with all our hearts but there is always another special soul looking for a home”.
Lassie the gorgeous Collie is a sweet lady who came to us heavily pregnant from a local authority pound at the end of August. Luckily, our specialised mutt-ernity wing unit was ready to welcome her in and provide her a safe and warm place to deliver her pups. Lassie gave birth to 9 puppies and was such a fantastic mum! She and her pups all found Forever Homes where they are now settled and enjoying family life:
Sensitive soul Scooby
A couple of months ago, two special dogs arrived into our care – brothers Jamie and Scooby. Jamie quickly found his Forever Home (you might remember him from our last adoption update). But Scooby, a sensitive, nervous soul, needed a bit more time with us to prepare him for family life. Poor Scooby was terrified of new things and people. He wasn’t used to being inside and relied a lot on other dogs for confidence . Our amazing Operations Assistant manager Eimear, who lives on site at Dogs Trust, welcomed Scooby into her home for over 4 months to help him grow his confidence. With the help of Eimear’s two dogs, he came on leaps and bounds! We’re so delighted to report that he has now found his Forever Home and has a new brother, Hugo. His amazing, supportive adopters are over the moon and very much in love!
Our beautiful boy Bran waited 325 days to find his Forever Home but boy was it worth the wait! He’s now settled in with new adopters who are besotted with him! It took Bran a while to let his guard down around new people, but thankfully his new family were willing to put in the time and effort it took to gain his trust. Their dedication paid off when they took Bran home. Here he is thoroughly enjoying himself with his new family. They even threw him his very own birthday party!:
From Lassie, Kali, Scooby, Bran and all the other dogs you’ve helped find loving homes this year, thank you! You make such a difference in the lives of all our furry friends. We couldn’t do it without you.
