The Teenage Phase: Understanding Your Adolescent Dog

Dog with frisbee in mouth

Adolescence is the bridge between puppyhood and adulthood, typically kicking in around 6 to 12 months of age and potentially lasting up to 24 months. Just like human teens, adolescent dogs go through big changes - physically, emotionally, and behaviourally.

Many of the behaviours you might notice during this phase - like jumping up, pulling on the lead, or struggling with impulse control - are all part of their natural development. The good news? With early, consistent training, you can help guide them through it. And if you're ever unsure, you're not alone - watch our training videos or find a qualified trainer for support.
