We have launched our third annual Pupcake Day which takes place on Friday 4th October. As we rely on donations to fund our lifesaving work, we’re calling out to the dog loving Delia’s all over Ireland to hold their own bake sale to help raise vital funds and save the lives of dogs that need their help most.
FoodOppi entrepreneur, Aisling Larkin visited our Rehoming Centre where she met and fell in love with some adorable chocolate brown puppies. Aisling is no stranger to creating exciting and imaginative ways to enjoy baking and what better way than to combine the two greatest things in the world; puppies and cake!
Speaking at the launch, Aisling Larkin said: “I love baking, and I love dogs, so I am very excited to help launch this year’s Pupcake Day for Dogs Trust. I can’t have a dog of my own at the moment, so I am hoping to ‘bake a difference’ by raising funds for this incredible charity. Last year alone, they rescued over 2,000 dogs and hit a milestone of providing education to half a million children on responsible dog ownership. FoodOppi encourages hands on cooking with the whole family, so why not cook up a storm by taking part in Pupcake Day and help save the lives of thousands of dogs’ in Ireland. It’s so incredible to know that by selling just 12 cupcakes you can help raise enough money to vaccinate a dog and keep them safe and healthy, which is the cherry on top of this fun bake sale”
By registering to take part, bakers will receive a ‘Pupcake Pack’ with bunting and adorable cake toppers and details for a downloadable guide, full of tips on how to run your bake sale and even a few recipes (both human and dog friendly*) to try on the day.
Fundraising Officer, Katie O’Neill added: “We simply could not continue our life saving work without the incredible public support we receive. Pupcake Day is one of our favourite days of the year, which also has an incredible impact for our Rehoming Centre. As we receive no Government funding, our supporters are the secret ingredient to help us continue saving the lives of stray and vulnerable dogs just like the adorable litter of puppies pictured with Aisling who were abandoned at a very young age, but are thankfully now safe in our care and will be going to their Forever Homes any day now”
Pupcake Day takes place on Friday 4th October, but you can hold your own bake sale any day in October. So, gather your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours (both furry and human alike) and help bake a difference through the power of Pupcakes!
*Please remember that human cupcakes are not suitable for dogs, so stick to the dog friendly recipes if you want to include your pooch on Pupcake Day.
