Dogs Trust

How we are responding to the Covid-19 pandemic

In response to yesterday’s Government announcement, we will be closing our Dublin Rehoming Centre to the general public today until further notice. We will continue to monitor this in line with governmental advice. This is in order to protect the best interests of our team, who are keeping the dogs in our care happy and healthy. The welfare and safety of our staff, our dogs and the most vulnerable members of society are of paramount importance, so we will be introducing a series of preventative measures to ensure we protect people as much as possible and adhere to Government guidelines.

In order to maintain the essential running of key operations at our centre and continue to provide vital care to our dogs, we have reduced the number of people interacting on site. These include closing to the general public, postponing any large group events, and facilitating working from home for employees where possible.

Due to the nature of our work, employees already practice a high standard of sanitation. In addition, we have issued internal communications to all employees outlining advice from governmental bodies and preventative practices like frequent hand washing and practicing social distancing in the interest of public health.

As this is an evolving situation, our Management Team is constantly reviewing the current status so that our response is fully informed, appropriate and timely. We endeavour to minimise the impact of any disruption where possible.

While the health and safety of our employees remains our top priority please rest assured that we are implementing all feasible measures to continue to provide the same high level of care for our supporters and of course all the dogs in our centre.

In this unprecedented time of need, we need your support more than ever to help us care for all of our dogs. As we don’t receive any government funding, we are solely reliant on the generosity of the public to support our life-saving work and would be delighted if you would consider supporting us by donating through our website or by sponsoring a dog
