Dogs Trust Ireland is delighted to have been shortlisted for ESG Business of the Year at the Business & Finance Awards 2026, recognising the charity's efforts to become a more sustainable and responsible organisation.

The charity is one of 12 finalists in the category, alongside well-known organisations including An Post, Aviva, PTSB, SMBC Aviation Capital and TCS Ireland.

The recognition follows 18 months of work through PawPrints, Dogs Trust Ireland's sustainability programme, which is helping the charity think more carefully about its impact on the environment, its people and the communities it serves.

Developed in partnership with sustainability specialists Colectivo, PawPrints brings together work happening right across Dogs Trust Ireland. This includes understanding our environmental impact, exploring ways to use energy and resources more efficiently, supporting biodiversity, promoting the wellbeing of our colleagues and working with partners who share our values.

While improving the lives of dogs remains at the heart of everything we do, we also want to make sure we're doing that work in a way that's responsible, sustainable and fit for the future.

Johann Fox, Head of Partnerships at Dogs Trust Ireland, said:

"We're absolutely delighted to see Dogs Trust Ireland recognised alongside some of Ireland's leading businesses. When we started PawPrints, we wanted to make sure that caring for dogs also meant thinking carefully about the impact we have on our people, our communities and the environment.

"This recognition is an acknowledgement of the work colleagues across Dogs Trust Ireland have put in over the past 18 months. We're proud of the progress we've made, but we know there's plenty more to do. That's what makes this journey so important."

The Business & Finance Awards celebrate excellence and leadership across Ireland's business community, with this year's winners announced at a ceremony at the Convention Centre Dublin on 10 December.

For Dogs Trust Ireland, being shortlisted is an encouraging milestone in a longer journey. Work is continuing to make sustainability part of everyday decisions across the charity, with our first Sustainability Report planned for publication in 2027.
