About Smokie

Smokie is a handsome adolescent American Staffordshire Terrier with a huge heart and an even bigger love for affection. He thrives on human company and is happiest when hes soaking up attention from his favourite people. Whether its cuddles on the sofa or relaxing beside you after a walk, Smokie loves being part of the family. A food enthusiast through and through, Smokie is highly motivated by treats, making training both fun and rewarding. When hes not enjoying a tasty snack, youll often find him stretched out on a cosy bed, enjoying a well-earned snooze and embracing his comfort-loving side. Smokie is social with other dogs and enjoys canine company. He does have a rough-and-tumble play style, so any potential doggy housemate would need to be a suitable match who enjoys similar play and can comfortably keep up with his enthusiasm. With sensible introductions, he could potentially live with another dog. As a young and excitable boy, Smokie can sometimes jump up when meeting new people and may occasionally hump when overstimulated or excited. These are common behaviours that can be improved with continued positive reinforcement training and guidance. Smokie is eager to learn and would benefit from a home committed to helping him develop his polite greeting skills. Smokie could live with older teens who are comfortable around energetic dogs and can help support his ongoing training. If youre looking for a loving, affectionate companion who enjoys both adventures and lazy days on a comfy bed, Smokie could be the perfect addition to your home.

Now you've decided that you're ready to welcome a new furry friend in your life, it's time to meet the dogs available for adoption.

You can search for a dog based on your location and lifestyle. We have dogs available for adoption across the whole of Ireland. While some dogs are based at our rehoming centre in Dublin, many of our dogs live all over Ireland with foster carers or their current owners until they can find their forever homes. The best way to find out how you can meet them is to fill out an application.

If you are hoping to adopt a puppy, we're happy to discuss this as part of the application process. Please bear in mind that we don’t usually add their rehoming profiles to our website as puppies grow and change in appearance so quickly.

Please bear in mind, if you are looking for a very specific breed, size or temperament, or have a very busy household, it may take longer for us to find your perfect match.

Many of the dogs in our care may have had a difficult start in life, or have specific medical or behavioural needs, and need a quieter household or one with no other pets. We try to match each dog with a family where we think they will have the best chance of success.
