About Tegan

Tegan is gentle giant who has a sweet and gentle temperament. Despite her size she is as timid as a mouse and takes time to get to know people. She can be worried by new people but getting to know them is made sweeter if they have her favourite thing, a tennis ball! She will play fetch for hours given the chance and acts like a giddy puppy during playtime! Tegan is a very strong girl, so she does need help with training around loose lead walking. Her carers at Dogs Trust will be happy to show you how to achieve this in the home. She loves her food and takes treats very gracefully from you with admirable manners. Tegan is dreaming of an adult only home that will help in her confidence building and becoming familiar with strange noises gradually. She will need to live in an area that is quieter than average, with little traffic and very few visitors to the home as the world is very scary for Tegan right now. She will rely on her close knit family unit to support her and help her grow in confidence while she learns what it is really like to live in a home. Having a garden will be fantastic for Tegan to have an outdoor space she can explore and relax in when the outside world is initially scary. Tegan may take some time to come round, but watching her go from stregnth to strength is endlessly rewarding and we are sure you will fall for her just like we all have!

Now you've decided that you're ready to welcome a new furry friend in your life, it's time to meet the dogs available for adoption.

You can search for a dog based on your location and lifestyle. We have dogs available for adoption across the whole of Ireland. While some dogs are based at our rehoming centre in Dublin, many of our dogs live all over Ireland with foster carers or their current owners until they can find their forever homes. The best way to find out how you can meet them is to fill out an application.

If you are hoping to adopt a puppy, we're happy to discuss this as part of the application process. Please bear in mind that we don’t usually add their rehoming profiles to our website as puppies grow and change in appearance so quickly.

Please bear in mind, if you are looking for a very specific breed, size or temperament, or have a very busy household, it may take longer for us to find your perfect match.

Many of the dogs in our care may have had a difficult start in life, or have specific medical or behavioural needs, and need a quieter household or one with no other pets. We try to match each dog with a family where we think they will have the best chance of success.
