Down Dogs for Dogs Trust FAQs
FAQ’s – Down Dogs for Dogs Trust
What is the Down Dogs for Dogs Trust daily Yoga Challenge?
‘Down Dogs for Dogs Trust’ is a daily yoga challenge and Facebook fundraiser in aid of Dogs Trust! By signing up you will receive a free t-shirt and access to free daily yoga videos from “Umbrella Wellness” yoga instructors. You’ll join a private Facebook group with likeminded people to support you throughout the challenge. Whilst taking part, we are asking you to set up a Facebook fundraiser to help save stray and abandoned dogs from all over Ireland.
Now more than ever, your support is needed, to ensure we can keep business as usual behind the scenes and continue to give our dogs the best possible standards of care.
As a charity that receives no Government funding, we are solely reliant on the generosity of the public to fund our life-saving work. In these challenging times, your generosity will save lives, and ensure unwanted dogs and puppies can continue to receive all love and expert care they need to get them back on their paws again.
When does the yoga challenge start?
It starts on May 1st and will run for the month of May !
Is it for beginners or experienced yogis? The daily classes will be suitable for all levels!
What time will the classes be at? The classes will be posted at 11am each day in the Facebook group. They will last half an hour and we will have longer 45-minute classes on Fridays.
What if I am not available at 11am each day? The videos will be posted at 11am everyday but will be posted within the Facebook Group so you can do the class whenever suits you!
Who is running the classes? Dogs Trust is being supported by “Umbrella Wellness” yoga instructors. They have kindly donated their time to run each class.
Can I only take part in Down Dogs for Dogs Trust in May ?
Daily videos will only be running during April, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start early! There are plenty of videos online to get you going. If you’ve a busy day due to work or family time, don’t worry! There will be a playback option for the Facebook video classes so you can watch in your own time.
How do I prove I have taken part in the class?
Post pictures and updates on your Facebook Fundraising page of you before, after or during a class so we can see you’re taking part. It is also a great way to show your friends and family who have sponsored you that you’re committed!
Everyone who completes the challenge will be sent a certificate so they can proudly show friends and family how they helped dogs to save some of Irelands most vulnerable dogs.
Can I do more than one class a day?
Of course. There will be play back options on the videos so you can do as many classes as you like. Just make sure not to overdo it, especially if you are new to yoga.
Can my dog take part in the Down Dogs for Dogs Trust challenge?
Unfortunately, we don’t have doggie instructors! But make sure to post any selfies with your dog or pictures of your dog trying to take part, or doing a big ‘down dog’ stretch! Some dogs will be happy to sit and watch you, but if they’re a bit nosey then they might need to be kept busy away from you so there are no accidents. When will I get my free t-shirt ?
Within a couple working days of registering!
Can I get a sponsorship card?
We will not be sending sponsorship cards as we want to make sure our supporters stay safe and keep to social distancing guidelines set out by the Government. We recommend you make a donation for taking part or set up a Facebook fundraiser so friend and family can support you.

How do I set up a Facebook fundraiser?
Visit: https://www.facebook.com/fund/DogsTrustIrelandOnline/ and wait for the pop-up to set up a page. Be sure to add Down Dogs for Dogs Trust in your Fundraising page title so we can easily find and thank you! PS – Make sure to set the page end date to June 1st, this is very important as otherwise your fundraiser will expire after a week rather than a month.
Do I have to set up a Facebook fundraiser?
A Facebook fundraiser is a great and easy way to get sponsors, share updates with your friends and family. All funds raised on Facebook get sent directly to Dogs Trust so less work for you! We will not be sending sponsorship cards as we want to make sure our supporters stay safe and keep to social distancing guidelines set out by the Government.
How do I edit the end date of my fundraising page?
This is a quirk of Facebook Fundraising pages. They are automatically set to run for just 7 days!
You need to manually change the date to June 1st .
Here’s how to do that:
- Go to your fundraising page -
- Click “Edit” under the main image and headline
- Scroll down to the box that says “Set the End Date”
- Select May 1st
- Then click Save in the top right.
My fundraiser ended before I finished the challenge. Can you re-start it?
This is a quirk of Facebook Fundraising pages. They are automatically set to run for just 7 days! Unless you edit the end date, it will automatically end. Unfortunately, the only way around this is to set up a new fundraising page so make sure to edit your end date as above.

How will the money I have raised help Dogs Trust?
Taking part in events such as the Down Dogs for Dogs Trust Challenge raises vital funds for the work Dogs Trust do to help stray and abandoned dogs across Ireland.
Since opening our doors in 2009, our dedicated supporters have enabled us to rescue and rehome over 17,500 dogs.
Dogs Trust receives no Government funding and we are entirely reliant on the generosity of amazing dog lovers like you to allow us to continue our work.
Every single donation that you raise goes towards providing nutritious food, veterinary treatment, a microchip, neuter, vaccinations and most importantly, love and cuddles from our Canine Carers to each and every dog that comes into our care.
Now more than ever, your support is needed, to ensure we can keep business as usual behind the scenes and continue to give our dogs the best possible standards of care.
In these challenging times, your generosity will save the lives of unwanted and abandoned dogs and puppies.
