The Very Waggy Caterpillar

a white Maltese dog called Caterpillar sitting in the lap of a carer after her groom

Tangled, terrified, and trapped in her own body, Caterpillar was found on a busy road — narrowly avoiding being hit by cars. Her story could have ended right there. But a caring person lifted her out of harm's way. And your kindness took things from there…

Alone and afraid...

Caterpillar was panicked. Dodging traffic, she was barely able to see because of the heavy mats covering her face and body.

It took the dog lover over an hour to catch her, but they refused to give up!

“She was so skinny”

Caterpillar was sedated as our vet team carefully removed her matted rug of tangled fur.

Despite her tiny size, it took two and a half hours and blunted three blades.

Your heart would have broken to see how skinny she was underneath, and the red-raw skin all up her little legs.

Your love transforms

Matting this bad doesn't happen overnight. Poor Caterpillar had likely been a prisoner in her own body for many, many months. At only around a year old, she'd already endured so much.

A different dog...

Liberated her from her cage of tangles, Caterpillar transformed...

Gone was the frightened soul from the roadside, and in her place, a waggy-tailed, snugglebug — climbing into laps, nuzzling hands, and soaking up every drop of love she could get her paws on!

“She couldn’t get enough love, or give enough of it,” says Valentina.

As soon as all that matted fur was gone, she was a different dog. All she wanted was love… as soon as you sat down, she'd climb into your lap and look up at you for a cuddle.

A home of her own

All Caterpillar wanted was someone to love. And that’s the precious gift you give...

When Caterpillar’s new family set eyes on her — that goofy smile, her button nose, her tippy toes — they fell head over paws for her!

Her tail wagging a mile a minute, she went home with her forever family soon after.

Cast out, unloved, discarded…

Thank you for changing little lives, four precious paws at a time.
