From Wags to Riches

Two female Jack Russell Terriers walking down a path

When they were abandoned in the pouring rain — their little hearts sinking as the car sped away — your love was there to scoop them up.

The CCTV footage is hard to watch...

It's pouring with rain. A car pulls up outside Dogs Trust after hours. And two dogs, we believe a mother and daughter, are shoved under our gates.

Confused and worried, the girls watch as the car drives away without them — their waggy tails coming to a slow stop as the car disappears.

Alone, scared, soaked to the bone, the pair were out there for over an hour before a staff member spotted them.

Your love opens the door.

Thanks to you, a safe, warm place was waiting just behind the gates. We brought them inside, and named the girls Sharon and Kelly.

As Ireland’s dog crisis continues, our kennels are always full.

And sadly, when people abandon dogs on our doorstep, it puts another deserving dog in desperate need even further down the waiting list.

Thankfully, one of our fosterers, Chloe, took the girls in — “just for a while”. You know what’s coming next…

We love them to bits!

Chloe, Sharon & Kelly's fosterer

Chloe fell head over paws for Sharon and Kelly. "It was as if they'd always been here," she says. "They hopped on the sofa like they were saying - 'Oh, it's good to be home'.

Only weeks later, Chloe officially adopted 'her girls'. "We feel so lucky to have them in our family. Thank you!"

Snuggles on the sofa.

Bedtime biscuits.

And a forever home of their own...

Thank you for every second chance you give.
