Strategic Communication Manager

Are you a strategic thinker who thrives on turning big-picture goals into clear, impactful communications programmes? Do you have the leadership skills to coordinate complex projects and bring teams together to deliver meaningful change?

 

At Dogs Trust, you’ll do more than shape messaging, as our new Strategic Communications Manager you’ll play a central role in driving how we communicate as an organisation, helping us reach more people, influence behaviour, and ultimately create a better world for dogs. You’ll join a collaborative and purpose-driven team, leading high-impact strategic initiatives that strengthen our voice, brand and effectiveness.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading the end-to-end planning and delivery of strategic communications programmes aligned to organisational priorities and OKRs
  • Translating high-level objectives into structured, measurable workplans with clear milestones and outcomes
  • Coordinating cross-organisational initiatives, ensuring alignment across Communications, Fundraising, Operations and other teams
  • Developing and implementing strategic communications planning approaches grounded in audience insight and channel strategy
  • Supporting the delivery and embedding of Dogs Trust Ireland’s brand strategy, ensuring consistency and clarity across all communications
  • Establishing reporting frameworks, dashboards and evaluation methods to measure impact and inform decision-making
  • Driving improvements in systems, workflows and ways of working to enhance efficiency and collaboration
  • Leading the transition of strategic communications capability from external partners to in-house expertise

 

We’re Looking for Someone Who Has:

✅ Significant experience leading complex communications, brand or organisational projects

✅ Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to translate objectives into actionable programmes

✅ Proven ability to influence and coordinate across teams without direct line management

✅ Excellent analytical skills with experience using data and insight to drive performance

✅ Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

✅ Strong organisational and project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

✅ A collaborative, proactive mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement

 

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering brand development or repositioning projects
  • Experience in organisational change or transformation initiatives
  • Background in charity, not-for-profit or values-led environments
  • Experience in advocacy, public affairs or policy communications
  • Experience managing external agencies or consultants
  • Knowledge of the Irish media, charity or public policy landscape
