Growing up I always longed for a dog. My mother, however, knowing the responsibility that came with owning a dog always said no.
Today rather than owning a dog of my own I help friend’s take care of theirs. Monday to Friday I look after a Chow Chow called Snow while his owner is in work.
And whenever a friend is heading away I’m always the first person they call to look after their furry friend.
For me including a Gift to Dogs Trust in my Will was a way that even after my death I can continue to help care for the dogs who need me.
Rather than a specific amount I have decided that a percentage of my estate will be left to Dogs Trust.
The coronavirus pandemic has helped me appreciate the benefits of having a canine companion even more. An underlying condition means I have had to keep myself more isolated than most. Having a dog who depends on me has made the loneliness of the pandemic easier to bear.
We are so grateful to Joan for choosing to leave this special gift. Her parting gift means that Joan’s love of dogs will live on. What a wonderful legacy to leave to the dogs she loves so much.
