We’re the best place for dogs in need. When a dog is at risk, we help them get back on their paws with healthcare, training, rehabilitation – and lots of love, of course.
Rescuing vulnerable dogs
We take in and rehome dogs from local authority dog pounds all over Ireland.
Following their statutory five day stay in the pound, if they have not been rehomed or reclaimed Dogs Trust will take them in - this function is the core of our work at our rehoming centre in Dublin; as helping vulnerable dogs is our number one priority.
We also take in dogs from individuals (providing we have available space to do so) for all sorts of reasons: from changes in accommodation and finances, to relationship breakdowns and family crises.

Helping dogs find a home
All dogs deserve a loving home. Our aim is to find every dog in our care somewhere to call their own.
Since we opened our doors in 2009, we've rehomed over 21,000 dogs all over Ireland.
While they’re in our care, dogs might stay at our rehoming centre or regional boarding kennels cared for by our expert staff, or in a dedicated foster home. We make sure dogs have everything they need to get back on their paws while we get to work searching for their forever home.
Through our adoption process, we carefully assess prospective adopters to find the right match for every dog, so that every four-legged friend gets the home they deserve.

Loved in our care
Some dogs need more care and attention before they are ready to find their forever home. Some dogs who stay with us a long time become our Sponsor Dogs. You can sign up to support them and follow their progress.
Our dog advice
We also offer behaviour and training advice to help families and their four-legged friends overcome any issues they face.
