October Skipping Challenge

FAQs - 100 Skips a Day in October Challenge

100 skips a day in October for Ireland’s abandoned dogs!

100 Skips a day in October is a skipping challenge in aid of Dogs Trust Ireland! Dog lovers who sign up will aim to complete 100 skips a day during the month. Everyone who signs up will be sent a free Dogs Trust T-shirt. We ask for those taking part to set up a fundraising page online, through Facebook or Just Giving, to share with their friends and family to sponsor their challenge.

Everyone taking part can stay up to date with their fellow challengers' progress in the 100 skips a Day in October Challenge Facebook group.

How do I register for the 100 Skips a Day in October Challenge?

Take these 3 steps to get involved!

1) Register for your free T-shirt here.

2) Create your Facebook Fundraiser - will pop up after you register for your pack.

3) Set your own goal and get ready to skip more next month!

If you would prefer to fundraising through Just Giving, please follow this link. You will still need to register your participation here to receive your free T-shirt as well.

How will the money I have raised help Dogs Trust?

Taking part in events such as the 100 Skips a Day in October Challenge raises vital funds which help stray and abandoned dogs across Ireland. Since opening our Rehoming Centre in 2009, dog lovers like you have rescued and rehomed over 22,000 dogs. We rely on public support to fund our work and we are entirely reliant on the generosity of amazing people like you to continue our life-saving work. Every single donation raised provides each dog that comes into our care with nutritious food, veterinary treatment, a microchip, vaccinations and most importantly, love and cuddles from our Canine Carers and a forever home.

How much do I need to skip?

We are asking for people to do 100 skips a day in the month of October. However, depending on your fitness, feel free to change the target to an amount that suits you.

How do I track my skipping?

In your fundraising pack, you will receive a skipping tracker – you can cross off the days you skip and share photos of it on your fundraising page.

I took part in a previous Dogs Trust challenge - do I still have to register?

Welcome back and thank you so much for taking part again! It is great to have you onboard. We would ask that you register again so we know how many amazing dog lovers are taking part.

How do I prove that I have done the challenge?

Post pictures and updates on your social media with your daily skips so we, and your family and friends who have sponsored you, can see that you’re committed! Everyone who completes the challenge will be sent a certificate of completion so they can proudly show they completed the challenge.

You can use this image to track your skips. Just pop an emoji over the box as you complete each day:

Do I have to start and finish in October?

You can start early or finish late if you have other commitments or just need more time.

Can I do more than 100 skips a day?

Sure thing, if you think you can do more than 100, go for it! Just make sure to not push yourself too hard and end up injuring yourself.

When will I get my sponsorship pack and T-shirt?

Due to limited resources, we will be sending the packs weekly so it could take up to 10 days to be posted to you. Don't worry if it doesn't come right away.

What is in the sponsorship pack?

  • A Dogs Trust T-shirt
  • A printed sponsorship card
  • An information booklet with tips, FAQ’s and a daily tracker!

Is there a skipping rope included in the pack?

We decided to give participants a T-shirt instead of a skipping rope based on the feedback we got from our May skipping challenge earlier this year. We hope participants have, or are happy to get, their own rope that suits their height and preferences.

How do I set up a Facebook fundraiser?

It’s quick and easy, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Fill in this form to register for your T-shirt and hit 'Submit & activate fundraiser'.
  2. This will automatically bring you to your fundraising page, it will have the official 100 Skips a Day in October Challenge photo and you will be able to edit it as you wish.
  3. Click 'Share' to send it to your friends and family who want to support your challenge.

How do I set up a Just Giving fundraiser?

If you would prefer to fundraising through Just Giving, you can set up a page here. You will still need to register your participation here to receive your free T-shirt.

Do I have to set up an online fundraiser?

To register for your skipping rope and fundraising pack, we ask all challengers to fill in this form. You will receive a printed sponsorship card in your fundraising pack so if you would rather fundraise offline, you can use that instead. If you do not want to fundraise at all, we would appreciate a donation to help cover the cost of the T-shirt. Thank you so much.

How do get my raised funds to Dogs Trust?

If you have set up a Facebook or Just Giving fundraiser then you don’t need to do anything. Your donations will automatically be sent to Dogs Trust.

If you have raised money via a sponsorship card then you can:

1. Donate raised funds online here.
