Brave Bruce is reunited with his family by Dogs Trust

It was celebration time this week as staff at Dogs Trust reunited a much loved pet with his family in Galway. This courageous chap managed to do the 130 mile journey from Galway to Dublin all on his own. This story may have a happy ending but the Kimball family were extremely concerned about his well being and spent days searching the local area after he went missing.

Bruce arrived into Dogs Trust just before Christmas. He was found by a member of the public and was handed into a pound. He was then taken to Dogs Trust to find a new home. Thankfully Bruce's owners extended their search in January as they realised he was no longer in the local area and staff at Dogs Trust immediately recognised him as being the Kimball family pet.

Mr. Kimball commented, "Christmas was definitely not the same without Bruce. My sons were so upset they even made a plea to God and Santa that they didn't want any presents this year, just the safe return of their pet. We are so grateful to have been reunited with our beloved Bruce through Dogs Trust".

A Dogs Trust Canine Carer made the journey from Dublin to Galway with Bruce to reunite him with his family after his six week adventure. Dogs Trust also offered advice on how the Kimball’s can avoid heartache like this again by making sure that their home is fully secure for Bruce.

Mark Beazley, Executive Director of Dogs Trust explains, “As with all of the dogs we rehome we made sure that Bruce’s home was checked so that both family and dog can relax together knowing that he is safe. He has also had a complete vet check, been neutered and most importantly, microchipped. We believe that microchipping is the fastest and most effective way to reunite lost and straying dogs with their owners.”
