Information about Ireland's leading Dog welfare charity

Dogs Trust is Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity.

Our Nationwide Subsidised Neutering campaign began in 2005. In order to stop unwanted puppies and prevent straying each year, we have financially helped over 90,000 people on means tested Social Welfare benefit to get their dog neutered. Through a network of over 265 vets nationwide, we continue to neuter over 10,000 dogs every year.

In 2006 we began our Education Campaign. Our Education Team offer free workshops to primary schools in Leinster, Munster and South Connaught. We focus on teaching 5 -12 year olds about responsible dog ownership, and how to be safe around dogs through curriculum linked workshops that are educational and lots of fun. The children also get the opportunity to meet one of our education dogs!

In 2009 we opened our Dublin Rehoming Centre. Due to the high destruction rate in Irish pounds we now rescue and rehome over 1,000 puppies/dogs each year. Our state of the art vet suite and terrific team of committed staff members help stray and abandoned dogs get back on their paws and into loving homes. Go to our Dublin Rehoming Centre to see some of our dogs available for adoption.

As we receive no government funding, it is up to us as a charity to raise the money for food, shelter and veterinary bills for all our dogs. Please help us to continue going the extra mile for them. Every donation and every legacy means we can save more stray and abandoned dogs in Ireland.

A National Subsidised Neutering and Microchipping Campaign offering low cost neutering for dogs whose owners are on means tested Social Welfare benefits. To date, we have neutered over 90,000 dogs through this initiative. More details can be found by clicking here

An Education Programme offering free curriculum linked resources to teachers in Ireland. Through classroom workshops, children learn about the importance of responsible dog ownership and meet our resident Education Team dogs.

Our brand new Dublin Rehoming Centre is open and has already rescued, cared for and rehomed more than 1,000 dogs in the first year!

We advise the Government on any matters concerning dog ownership.

All our work is funded by public generosity. So, if you love dogs, please make a donation today or visit our Rehoming Centre and see all of our wonderful dogs available for adoption.
